Care, Handling & Storage
Our Nicotine Base and Nicotine Salt solutions both require proper care, handling and storage measures. Please be sure to read this in its entirety before using these products as nicotine is a hazardous chemical and can have harmful, long-lasting effects, especially when not handled properly.
Handling and Care
Though our nicotine solutions are diluted in VG and PG, it’s still highly potent and must be handled with caution and safety measures.
Visually inspect- Before opening your bottles, ensure there are no punctures or damage to the bottles or caps, creating leakage. If you do notice nicotine leaking, transfer your nicotine solution to a safe container and wash the damaged container in the sink with warm water before properly disposing of the container.
Wear gloves and avoid skin contact- Always wear gloves and long sleeves to ensure no skin contact. On contact, nicotine may cause redness, itchiness or irritation to the skin. Nicotine is also absorbent to the skin and can cause light headedness, fatigue, fast heartbeat and upset stomach. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
Handle near a sink- It is best to handle your nicotine near a sink. In case of spills, there is water access close by so that you do not have to travel far with your nicotine.
Designated containers- If you choose to not use the containers that your nicotine solution came in, make sure to use designated containers for nicotine and e-juice mixing to avoid cross contamination. Do not use everyday containers, food containers or mixed use containers.
Measurements- When mixing nicotine with VG, PG and flavoring, it is imperative that you use exact measurements to avoid an overdose of nicotine, which could have fatal consequences. We recommend always using a syringe or pipette on a stable and level surface.
Storage
Most importantly, it is imperative that your nicotine is kept away from reach of children, pets, elderly, and anyone who may ingest or come into contact with the liquid without realizing it’s toxicity. It's best to store your nicotine as you would any other toxic chemical-- in a locked and secure location.
Nicotine retains its potency and freshness best when stored in a dark and refrigerated environment. Certain factors can occur to your nicotine when not stored properly that will cause degradation in the quality of your nicotine, the most crucial factor being oxidation-- a prolonged exposure to oxygen. This can affect the taste of your nicotine, color and potency. Many vapers even store their nicotine in dark or amber colored bottles to avoid UV and heat exposure. It is important to note that nicotine will degrade regardless of the storage process, however it will preserve longer when stored in a refrigerator or freezer.
If you choose to store your liquid nicotine solution in a refrigerator, it is imperative that it is stored in a locked refrigerator or a locked box within your refrigerator to avoid food contamination and coming into contact with children. The higher milligram strength of your nicotine, the quicker it will degrade in quality.
As VG and PG have low freezing points, diluted nicotine has a lower freezing point than most normal freezers can reach. Therefore, it will remain in liquid form, though it’s consistency will vary depending on the temperature and how long it is left in the freezer.
